Temporary work-around:
> killall -9 empathy
> killall -9 /usr/lib/telepathy/mission-control-5
then restart empathy. Should work until it breaks again.

I did paste the output into the 1st pastebin, though as you requested
here is the past directly into this box, fair warning it's 1045 lines
long:

I don't have the same card as the others, though I have the same
problem. I have a Creative CTXFI Titanium and with < 12.04 this all
worked just fine (after a few tweaks). I can confirm that in 12.04 I
cannot select the digital surround sound options simply because they do
not exist ... though just
