Same issue after upgrade from Xubuntu 17.04 to 17.10 32 bits on Samsung NC10.
So I still use 4.10.0-37-generic xubuntu 17.04 kernel.
But Booting on 17.10 xubuntu 32 bits live CD works.

Sorry for my comment. I haven't restarted gpilotd after applying #27 solution.
It works but the gptime1 and gpmemo1 doesn't work, as Stefano.
But I can't launch the synchronisation twice without restarting the daemon :
the second time, the Palm doesn't authenticate itself.

Hi,
since I read your above message, I am using the 185.18.14 NVIDIA driver
(since the 28th of july) and the "Cool & Quiet" option of my mother
board is enabled (frequency variation enable for my AMD Athlon 64 3200+)
and I just have a freeze this morning.

Since I disabled the frequency variation of my CPU ("Cool & Quiet" option of my
mother bord (ASUS A8N-SLI Deluxe)), on the 26th of june, I had only 3 freezes.
