Sorry. A quick run of lspci -vvn in Feisty Herd 4 does show the device
id as 0x0308, so maybe that means the kernel is properly detecting it as
a PT880 Ultra, and something else is causing both Edgy and Feisty to

This still isn't fixed as of Feisty Herd 4. It also affects the
x86-generic kernel. The VIA PT880 Ultra chipset basically isn't
supported by Ubuntu because of that. I've got an Asus P5VDC-X with VIA
PT880 Ultra and an ATI Radeon 9700 Pro. Edgy and Feisty don't even bring
up X when using the ati or
I have an ASUS P5VDC-X, which is very closely related. Dapper worked
fine (aside from Via 880 chipset incompatibilities in the kernel).
Dapper>Edgy upgrade resulted in system freezes within X. The Xorg.0.log
didn't have information on the crashes, though. Tested fglrx, ati, vesa

I just discovered that linuxsampler has some licensing issues. They
claim it is GPL, but then add additional restrictions to it. Debian
Proper has already removed linuxsampler, liblscp, libgig and qsampler
from their archives. What's the Ubuntu policy on that?
See http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bu
Technically, it's a network TCP frontend to linuxsampler, so it should
still be installable on any given machine even without a linuxsampler
binary on that machine. Instead, linuxsampler should be in the
recommended field.

The linuxsampler deb from the dapper repos was compiled without jack

A quick dependency check shows about 15 supported apps that depend on
libsdl1.2. There about 240 packages total (universe/multiverse included)
that depend on it.
I vote for this bug being marked as high importance, because it is
affecting several supported apps in the main component (although they

We're dealing with two distinctly separate but seemingly related issues,
both of which point fingers at gnome-screensaver.

I don't see how this is related to gnome bug 342728, but since ppracer
uses libsdl, this IS a dupe of bug #32457.
For comments about gnome-screensaver and losing mouse control, see bug

I'm noticing that a ton of bugs are showing up for specific games having

games that use libsdl1.2 as duplicates of this one.
I'm highly skeptical of the gnome-screensaver folks marking the upstream

This may be a bug in gnome-screensaver, rather than tsclient. I don't
know where a patch should be applied.
Anyway, I have a temporary solution. Simply kill the gnome-screensaver
process and you will get full mouse control / keyboard control back.
You can kill the process by either a remote SSH t
