[Bug 1925675] Re: hirsuit kernel fails to detect monitor plugged into USBC thunderbolt socket

2021-05-21 Thread Philip Armstrong
Annoyingly, I have to report that this morning the display in question worked fine with both the latest stable hirsuit kernel (5.11.0-17-generic) and the version I reported the bug for (5.11.0-16-generic). If I can find a way to reproduce it reliably, then I'll re-open this bug, but for the moment

[Bug 1925675] [NEW] hirsuit kernel fails to detect monitor plugged into USBC thunderbolt socket

2021-04-22 Thread Philip Armstrong
Public bug reported: On upgrade to hirsuit hippo, my Dell 9360 no longer detects a monitor plugged into the thunderbolt usbc socket. If I reboot with the latest kernel from Ubuntu 20.10 (version 5.8.0-50) it works perfectly, detecting the monitor from kernel boot. I have tried both a thunderbolt

Public bug reported: Running update-manager -p today just before the release of focal fossa, the install halted during package configuration with a gconf2.0 crash. I had to dismiss about 30 dialogs before the install completed, each exactly the same. I run stock ubuntu, except that I use the stan

Fwiw, this appears to be fixed in 3.0. I compiled my own kernel with the ubuntu .config from 2.6.38 & the 3.0 kernel sources (appropriately updated) and suspend & resume started working again. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ub

Addendum. I can confirm that suspend/resume works fine in the Ubuntu kernel tagged Ubuntu-2.6.37-12.26 but fails in Ubuntu-2.6.38-1.27 I'd be happy to git bisect those two tags, but if I try, the sources git-bisect asks me to build don't have any of the ubuntu build infrastucture (no debian/rules

searching on sd card suspend reveals that this is an ongoing problem with a number of laptops. Bug #569882 is a report on a Thinkpad X61 (very similar hardware to the X60) for instance, but there are a number of others with laptops from a variety of manufacturers. I wonder if they're all using the

Ah ha! Found the culprit: it's the SD card slot. If there's an SD card mounted, then suspend hangs. Unmount the SD card before suspending and everything works perfectly. ** Tags removed: regression-update -- 2.6.32-22-generic kernel breaks suspend/resume on Thinkpad X60s https://bugs.launchpad.

OK, I'm afraid I don't know whether this is a kernel bug, or whether it lies elsewhere. I can at least confirm the following: 1) Booting from a Lucid install CD, suspend and resume work perfectly 2) Using the same kernel as the LiveCD (2.6.32-21.32) on my X60s install fails to suspend. 3) The lat
