If there is no active task selected in the hamster-applet its window is
very broad. This is due to the long text below the task selection combo
box (at least in the german translation). This text should be wrapped.
This is no show blocker,
After a little browsing I recognized that my issue might (also) be related to

Unfortunately the backport modules didn't resolve this issue on my
machine (Dell XPS M1530 with Intel Corporation PRO/Wireless 4965 AG or
AGN). I have jaunty with Kernel 2.6.28-15-generic #49-Ubuntu SMP Tue Aug
18 19:25:34 UTC 2009 x86_64 GNU/Linux.

I got this trace by following the how-to at

evolution crashes on v
I know, as I mentioned in my last post, evolution isn't responding
anymore (it freezes) after importing the appointment directly. When I
save the file and import it from file it works without a problem.
I also tried to import an ics mail without german "umlauts" with the
same negative result.

Attached you will find the backtrace. The window gets dark after
pressing the import button (program isn't responding). After I while I
closed the window to get back to the gdb command line.
