Ubuntu 9.10 (karmic koala) (dist-upgrade from intrepid)
Qt: 4.5.2
KDE: 4.3.2 (KDE 4.3.2)
Kile: 2.0.83
emacs works.

Before editing the file the user set the umask to 002. Editing the file
with emacs works,
