The following solution worked for me for installation:

I booted using 17.04 64 bit and did choose the "Try Lubuntu" option from the
boot menu.

Tried lubuntu-17.04-desktop-amd64.iso on a lenovo yoga 300 several times
using "sudo swapoff --all" before running into error. Thus the error
message changed to auto-partition failed.
At my system the auto-partitioning creates a 1MB partition as first an one as
last partition on disk, which is qu

when I try to start xpdf with a specific geometry by calling with
parameter e.g. "xpdf -g 400x300" I get the following message:

Ok, after restarting the X server (i.e., killing my long-running vnc
session) the rgb.txt in /etc/X11/rgb.txt was accepted.
Still, I think the current state is unacceptable. I'd be happy to help
in finding a better solution.

Great ... I downloaded rgb.txt (and some variations) and put it in
/etc/X11/rgb.txt, /usr/share/X11/rgb.txt, and /usr/lib/X11/rgb.txt. No
luck so far.
This works around the bug for showrgb etc., but tk apps still do not see
the colors. Investigating further ...

Another application that is affected is git. "git gui" will not start at
all on a fresh Jaunty install.
Come on people, this is clearly something that needs to be fixed. I will
download rgb.txt now to continue with my work, but this has eaten 20
minutes of my time. Scale this to millions of Ubuntu
OK, just downloaded and booted Intrepid alpha 6, and with this driver
version, all works well!

Oops, sorry for the noise - only after checking for updates in the live
session I saw that new version 15.2 is available, so I'll check alpha 5
and give feedback. Just wanted to avoid the big download and tried the
a3 CD from a magazine...

I can confirm this was still an issue for me on my laptop with Hardy
final. I fixed this by renaming S31umountnfs.sh to S18umountnfs.sh in
/etc/rc6.d and /etc/rc0.d. It would have been nice if this could have
been included in the final release, since a quick google search shows
this is still annoyi

Ok, in addition to the above xorg.conf, I added Option "SHMConfig" "On"
to provide this output of synclient -l. I hope anybody can help with
this issue.
