I think I understand the nature of this bug, having just encountered it
myself.
The process I went through is as follows:
1. I have a large PDF file that I want to print. The text is large, and I want
to save paper.

The touchpad on my Acer Aspire 1500 laptop locks up for short periods of
time very frequently.
This problem or something like it was present in Dapper, but on
upgrading to Edgy has become much worse, to the point that it is
unusable, and I am going to have to revert to Dapper
