I have had this issue with my C270 on Windows and now on Ubuntu 20.04. So it's
mainly a Logitech issue, but on Windows I fixed it by fixing the mic on 16000
hz. On Ubuntu I tried chaging etc/pulse/daemon.conf to ; default-sample-rate =
16000
; alternate-sample-rate = 16000
and it did not work. O

After installing Ubuntu on a new Acer aspire u5 620 I found that the
wireless keyboard is not working properly (Keyboard: Acer KBRF96211).
The mouse works just fine and I can use the arrow keys in the grub menu
(so I am sure the usb plug is working). Moreover, I just realized,
I tried to downgrade to the version 0.97-2ubuntu0.1 as used in Trusty,
but didn't help.

I can't speak for the OP, but I was hit by this bug with an almost
identical CPU setup (Xeon x5355) and the kernel in proposed doesn't
resolve the issue for me. The upstream utopic kernel link posted at #7
however does fix it. My symptoms are identical.

I've just done a fresh install of 14.04.1, and after installing nfs-
common had the same problem : I couldn't start rpcbind. it's started
correctly on boot, but I cannot control the service.

Same issue for me with a fresh 14.04 install.

I have this problem too. Starting pidgin with status "invisible" or changing
the status to "invisible" does not work.
Everyone can still see me as logged in and they see that I try to be
"invisible", which is annoying.
System is Ubuntu 9.04, Pidgin 2.5.5, Protocol ICQ.
