The same thing happens here. The version of openoffice.org-* it wants to
update to is 2.4.1~rc1-1ubuntu1 (from hardy-proposed), but the
openoffice.org-l10n-* packages are still stuck at version 2.4.0-3ubuntu1
(from hardy).
It seems somebody forgot to upload the new language packs to hardy-
propose
I have tested under hardy alpha 5, and the firmware is still missing.
I have also tried to find under what license the firmware is released.
The driver is licensed under the MPL / GPL, but the source for the
firmware seems to be missing. The driver was originally written by

This is related to bug #125739 (mpg123 and mpg321 won't play audio
preview in Nautilus (Gutsy)). Nautilus opens a FIFO when you hover over
an audio (.ogg / .mp3) file, but doesn't close it because esound isn't
installed on gutsy anymore.
To work around this bug you can either disable audio preview
As far as I know the ipw3945 wireless drivers use a binary daemon, which
is included by default, and a lot of proprietary/copyright stuff (mp3
support, flash player, ...) is also installable from multiverse. I'm not
sure either however.

I can confirm this as my brothers Creative Soundblaster Live! 5.1 also
has this problem. This is an ALSA problem as alsamixer doesn't mute
rear/center either.

One of my systems also has this problem: it hangs at Loading Hardware
Drivers for a few minutes, and then it continues until Starting
Enterprise Volume Management.
I didn't notice these problems in Breezy.
