Actually, until two days ago I had no idea Ubuntu provided Eagle. I had
gone to Eagle's download page: http://www.cadsoftusa.com/download-
eagle/?language=en, and there's a binary available, but no mention of a
.deb file or a package in Ubuntu.
The binary just worked on 10.04 but not 12.04, since

Word to the wise: if you manually downloaded Eagle, it will not run on
12.04 without installing the following packages:
sudo apt-get install libjpeg62:i386 ia32-libs
Now it works like a charm.

apt-get cannot either install or update grub on my system - amd64 of
9.10. When I try to install either grub or grub-pc, I get the following

physical disks in a raid 1 using mdadm. I upgraded from 9.04, so grub-
pc was not part of the upgrade. However, my grub menu stopped working

I think it's worth a try checking your RAM for errors before going
further. Run the RAM test overnight or over the weekend; otherwise you
might not see an intermittently failing bit of RAM. You can even
configure your kernel to never use a sector of bad RAM if you find one.

I just wanted to try out gdesklets without supplying my mail
information. When I install gdesklets, this nullmailer thing comes up
too. I don't know what it is and I didn't ask for it, and when I
repeatedly push the "cancel" button it crashes
