I used supermount from ~2001 to 2008 on 2 different distributions.
Coming to Ubuntu early in 2008 I found its automounting method annoying
as I had to wait a few seconds for the system to recognise a new medium,
and perhaps ask me what to do with it, before I could mount and use the

I've reproduced the bug in unpatched versions of Kubuntu 7.04 and Ubuntu
6.06. Both used the default kernel on an i686. I included more details
in the bug report I linked to above.

/etc/init.d/powernowd stop didn't make any difference on my system. I
tried disabling the daemon through sytem settings just to be sure, but
the kernel panic is still happening.

I've reproduced this bug. I reported it separately (bug #156164)
because for some reason I couldn't find your report after searching.
I had almost identical symptoms when connecting to a flat-rate ISP (also
with an 0808 number). The only difference is I couldn't get the output
in your attachment
I can confirm this still happens in Kubuntu 7.04 Final, I've been using
the TerminateServer workaround mentioned above.
