like me that the line should read:
"Had to dpkg -r libc6-i686 and then dpkg --configure -a"
(note the 6). It cost me an hour, but I sure learned a lot about packages :)

Unfortunately, I can't now because I ended up reinstall from scratch
because I couldn't get an eclipse configuration that worked correctly,
and now everything seems to be working fine.
The control center crashing occured after a dapper to edgy upgrade.

Err, I should just mention that the stack trace attached above is
identical to the first bug report...just scrolling through the themes
and Bzap! (And I mean bzap in the most technical way possible)
