Hi!
Currently I have no Lucid installation to test on and I will not be able to
install one for some further weeks for personal reasons. Once I have one
installed I will be glad to help you out. Is that OK with you?

Hi!
When I try this in Jaunty 9.04 it seems to be solved.
Note that I have installed my system as an ubuntu 9.04 and added the
kde-dektop. I have no easy way to verify this issue on a pure kubuntu
9.04 installation. Hope this will do :)

Hi!
I have now realized that the problem was the complexity of alsamixer and
kmix. Some settings cannot be set from the kmix but must be set using
the text-based alsamixer. When I unmuted the IEC958 in alsamixer and
fiddled with the volumes for a while I managed to get the sound working
properly.

It is a mysterium for me why this suddenly araise and why only some of us
seems to need it. But it is very obvius that the fxload needs a -D argument

Install the midisport-firmware-package
Change the following in the /etc/udev/roles.d/85-midisport-firmware.rules:
Within the brackets on each rule, add -D $env{DEVNAME} within the brackets.
Example for the Midisport 2x2 rule:

By the way
My fix assumes that the package: midisport-firmware is installed on the system.
