Same cause, similar effects.
instead of corrupted screen, I get bumped back to logon.
Manually selecting sleep appears to work fine, only closing the lid
kicks of the problem, and doesn't set the system to sleep. Big problem
if you don't notice as you get cooked laptop in bag.

Have just tried Lucid Alpha-2 live DVD. Still not working.
I know it needs an install for the full `troubleshoot' but I did the
keypress test (xev | sed etc...) and got no response from the keys.

That seems to have fixed the issues for me, it now shows no wired
connection on boot.
wired kicks in correctly upon connecting to a DHCP enables system, and
drops off and reverts to wireless as expected when the cable is removed.

Further to the description, if a video is playing full screen during a
`cycle' event, it continues uninterrupted but the screen goes blank and
only refreshed after movement of the mouse or a keyboard press.

Have found that a suspend / resume cycle will give priority to the
wireless network.

Found if I `quickly' go to tty3 and /etc/init.d/gdm restart &

I would suggest then that previously (pre 9.04) it was mobile phone
based interference, but what you have now is a repeat of the bug the
rest of us are reporting.

Started getting it after return to compiz after fix related to intel
G965 cards
Turned off compiz and seems to have disappeared, will check over next
few hours.

On intrepid, and Jaunty Alphas 4-6 Desktop effects worked fine. Soon as
installed RC desktop effects lost and wont re-enable. Everything upto
date as of 9am Tue 21st (BST)
