It's a little better with the Ambiance theme due to the scrollbar being
bigger (but still not very convenient). I didn't realise, that the
Equinox theme is changing the scrollbars so radically, I assumed it is
new Ubuntu behaviour, sorry about that. If anyone else doesn't feel,

I'm using Equinox theme, but I don't think it's a gtk theme issue
(before the new scrollbars, it was fine), it looks like the LibreOffice
sets the height of this area according to the horizontal scrollbar. But
I haven't check, how it looks like with Ambiance/Radiance, I'll do that,
when I get to my

The sheet tab menu in the bottom of LibreOffice Calc is as high as the
new tiny scrollbars, which makes selecting of the sheet quite
irritating. As always, it is the Open/LibreOffice making problems with
new UI element/themes/etc.

I should add, that I'm using 24'' screen. This covering behaviour may be
good for netbooks, but in my case it reduces my effectiveness for no
reason. On every desktop OS, users are used to seeing the app menu all
the time. It doesn't seem wise to break that habit.

I see your point. But I would suggest to make the application menu
always visible next to the window title (or at least provide the
option). Right now, lot of new users won't find the menu at first sight,
because they have to point the cursor on the Global Menu. When I first
installed Unity, I had
