unity itself. So I launch programs as before, only alt-tab uses a
different switcher now, which works.

It helps to go to the text terminal (ctrl-alt-f2), and type "unity --reset",

reyammer, that's right. And I used your fix, and I can confirm, that
wicd works flawlessly in the indicator area, starts up automatically
after logging in, and connects to networks, and for me all is fixed.
I think it should whitelist itself automatically after installation.

How can we get the full stacktrace for a bug like this? For me, it
happens once every couple days (sometimes once a day, sometimes once a
week). But I can't reproduce it on demand (i.e. while running X under
gdb).

This bug is supper annoying, as I always loose all my work. How should
we debug it? The best would be to figure out some way to reproduce it
reliably, but that seems like a very hard problem.

I have 1830T and I can confirm, that the network-manager in the default
Natty installation does not work (it doesn't see any wifi spots). I have
removed network-manager and installed wicd, and things started to work
just fine. I didn't install any other drivers, than the default ones in
Natty.

This is due to #761326, wicd doesn't support the the application
indicators. The workaround is to use
wicd-client -n
and a gtk window will pop up. Everything works then.

Indeed, I have the same problem, the /usr/lib/libgfortran.so is missing,
so I need to use /usr/lib/gcc///libgfortran.so, which is
nonstandard I believe.
Is there any solution to this? Maybe some automatic determination of the
location of libgfortran.so.
