Just been trying this functionality out on 12.04 64 bit. I can report
that there is a an 'Apply system wide button' but it does not work i.e.
click the button, open a new terminal and run set | grep proxy and you
see the old value. Should I report this as a new issue?

I have been experiencing similar problems in pattern lists but only
noticed because I could not get the negating function to work - in the
man page it says:
"Patterns within pattern-lists may be negated by preceding them with an
exclamation mark (`!')"

Yeah, not great. Severity? I think my first reaction was the same as yours

After 25 years of relying on LD_LIBRARY_PATH sourced from .profile I am
quite surprised that this is bust. I have spent years trying to get
people to use .bashrc, .profile etc. properly and it is frustrating
watching people waste time on this topic and craft alternative

Any news on this? I have a Lenovo T60 with Intel 945, dual screens on
Intrepid and it looks like this same issue is still present:

the show button does nothing. My work laptop has Compiz installed but it

machines, one fresh install, one upgraded from Hardy both have the

using Rhythmbox. On Hardy this was never any bother but I am getting
crashes every couple of CD's I put in Rhythmbox just exits with no
information at all. At present when I restart it all works fine again, I

Same problem here on an AMD64 (running 64 bit). Worked fine with Hardy,
worked ok after upgrade to intrepid, and then sometime within the last 2
weeks it has just stopped working. I am assuming it was a recent update
that broke it.
Symptoms: refuses to mount audio CD's, DVD drive refuses to respon
