Thank you for still working on this. Unfortunately, it does not work for me either. I upgraded libdrm2 and xserver-xorg-video-intel from raof ppa, removed all GRUB options, removed i915 blacklist and removed the xorg.conf file. My laptop froze with a black screen before i reached the boot prompt
