When you install on an external USB drive, you must make sure to install
GRUB on the correct location. By default, it will choose hd0, or the
first hard drive, not the external drive.

I can reproduce the part where if you "don't first remove the
/media/External directory, it will mount it to /media/External_".
This seems to be a permissions problem. gnome-mount uses HAL to mount
external mediums. HAL usually mounts to /media/$disklabel. If you
manually created /media/External a

This bugtracker is primarily for Ubuntu. If you would like to install
Windows 98, please read the instruction manual that came with the disc.
Usually, you will have to boot your computer from the Windows Install
CD. Then follow the instruction on the screen. You will not be able to
install Windows
For the multimedia issue, this might be due to the lack of proper codecs. There
are some codecs that Ubuntu cannot include by default for legal reasons. See
