Hallo,
the same issue affects my machine. A Ubuntu 12.04 with new hardware changed to
ASRock H87 Pro4
socket 1150 running an Intel I5-4430 and an AMD graphiccard. Will send scripted
report mentioned above if necessary.

same problem here on a lenovo T61p. and also for me: "ifconfig eth0
down" fixed the problem for the time being; I didn't yet try the "remove
battery" trick either.
took me long to find this thread.. I measured the intervals and on my
machine they are exactly 4 seconds between each stop / freeze. a
good news: as I suspected the swiss tv problem is not connected to this
issue. swiss tv launched a new video portal today and now the problem I
experienced is gone (nothing else changed since yesterday..).
but open office splash screen problem and screenshot problem remain.

more information about the bug I reported in post #22: in my normal work
environment the problem doesn't exist - but it happens when I boot the
computer without it being connected to the external screen. the desktop
still appears to be set two screens wide, but not for everything... for
example sav
not sure if it's related to this driver update - but today I noticed
that I cannot use print screen anymore. "Alt"+"PrtSc" opens the print
screen dialog normally, but the actual print screen only shows the mouse
icon - otherwise it is just black.

but so far I only experience it with swiss tv flash movies (when going full
screen) & open office 3.0 loading splash.
