Having a similar USB wifi stick (edimax EW-7318USg featuring the same RT73
chipset as yours), i had also problems, but in feisty (not upgraded yet).
The point is, the solution I found was to fall back to the legacy driver (rt73
instead of rt73usb, the new driver) and it works well.

Ok so it affect 3.5.7 but is fixed in KDE4.
As the backport policy indicates that only crash bugs fixes can be
backported, i don't think the fix will be backported to 3.5.7. I might
be wrong.

They claim they are not able to reproduce the bug, and that it might be ubuntu
