It looks like Empathy uses the Gnome keyring for storing passwords, so
at least they are encrypted when saved (unlike Pidgin). I agree that it
would be good to not require password saving. But at least the passwords
should not be readable by anyone else even with admin or physical access
to the com
I think the reason for this is that the zope3 package, which splatd
depends on, has python 2.4 as a dependency. I don't know if this could
be changed in the zope3 package in hardy, but at least now in jaunty
zope3 seems to work with python 2.5.

Since I am the upstream author of the changes between the 1.1 and 1.1.1

called homeutils, which just provides some support functions that can be
used by other plugins that deal with home dire

Attached is the complete package.
Getting this as an exception to the UVF would be nice. There was a bug
fixed in the 1.1.1 release of Splat which is mentioned here:

No RSS feeds I have read lately link to ftp sites, but I did find a

I tried this with the version of thunderbird included in feisty, and
could not reproduce. The original rss feed I had trouble with (for
FreeBSD security advisories) seems to give http URLs now. I tried
copying the rdf file to my own machine and changing the URLs to ftp, and
thunderbird didn't crash
I have had this problem as well. However, my jabber server isn't running
jabberd2, it's running Wildfire.
