I upgraded the box runnning my mythtv backend server from 10.04 to 12.04
today, and was affected by this.
fixed it by editing /etc/apparmor.d/usr.sbin.mysqld
and changing lines
/var/run/mysqld/mysqld.pid w,
/var/run/mysqld/mysqld.sock w,
to
/run/mysqld/mysqld.pid w,
/run/mysqld/mysqld.sock w,
it seems that the inifinte loop is fixed by this patch, but mysql is not
starting at boot after installing the packages from proposed, so boot
time is significantly increased.

Re Luca's point about network-manager v WICD, I can confirm exactly the
same behaviour using the rt73USB module (I'm still running Gutsy).
I've switched to WICD for 2 reasons.
1.. easier WPA password management.
2. doesn't clutter the logs with stuff at startup.
However, my logs are now clutt

bandwidth), but gets flaky and disconnects when running on battery.
Anyone else had similar experience?

guys,
I don't know if this is relevant, but I am sucessfully using rt73usb and
rt2500usb modules, and my wireless works dandy (in gutsy).
However, I can confirm that it is VITAL that they are loaded in that order.
I have an ADVENT 9112 laptop which worked "out-of the-box" with the live CD...

Hi all,
I'm having a very similar issue, and have solved it!
I'm posting here in case it helps with the diagnosis for these issues.
I have a brand new laptop, and the wireless card works right out of the box
with the Gutsy Live CD.
However, once installed, it doesn't work.
