I got the same error and it turns out it was also due to me installing
Emacs 25 from a PPA. My solution was also the same, as outlined in

To remove Emacs from the PPA and reinstall Emacs from the official

No, I can't try it again: I don't have linode anymore, and I don't
have any spare computers to do a fresh install on.

Yes. I think you want add-shell and remove-shell calls in
debian/postinst and debian/postrm, as in the zsh (non-beta) package.

with zsh-beta there is no way to select zsh-beta with chsh.
I purged zsh-beta (I did not have zsh installed) and there were no zsh
related entries in /etc/shells. Then I installed zsh-beta, and /bin/zsh
was added to /etc/shells,

The ant completion (via Completion/Unix/Command/_ant) is broken in
intrepid zsh-beta. The problem is an extra space in a sed regex and
it's fixed in jaunty zsh-beta:

This started happening to me recently. As far as I can tell I haven't
edited my desktop related setting for a year. But removing (desktop-
read) from my .emacs fixed the problem. (I have (desktop-load-default)
and (desktop-save-mode 1) still enabled).

Just tried again with a new setup, after seeing whtvr's post, and got
seemingly unpredictable behavior. My setup is now x60s attached to an

Oops, looks like its it's more complicated than that: I just tried a
second suspend and resume while not attached to the docking station and
this time reissuing the commands has the same effect as I described for
suspending and resuming while attached to the docking station :P
