Strange indeed, so there are likely missing dependencies, on my system
the following PyQT stuff is installed,
python-qt33.17.6-1 Qt3
bindings for Python
python-qt44.4.4-2ubuntu3 Python
bindings for Qt4

Works for me on Intrepid as well as Jaunty.
Make sure you have libkrosspython0 installed.

A work around is to start SuperKaramba from a terminal and use the '--
