Thanks Phillip - updating the dmraid packages (both of them) with your
PPA worked great. Any chance to get the official repos updated
accordingly? It's a pretty nasty bug.

When trying to Alt-tab, then WinKey-tab in Firefox, the display froze
momentarily then compiz crashed.

I solved the issue by updating the firmware of the drive, in my case it was a
LG (HL-DT-ST GH22NS30 to rev 1.03)
I recommend everyone else does the same as it seems the problem was with my
drive's firmware.
