I came here looking for a fix to this for my Mint 19.3 (Ubuntu 18.04)
install. So the problem may be older than 19.10.

I'm getting this with Banshee 2.6.2 running on Linux Mint 17.2 (based on
ubuntu 14.04).
Tons (5-10 per track) of these when run from a shell:

Confirming that this problem exists on Mint Petra, Banshee 2.6.1-3,
pulseaudio 1:4.0-0ubuntu6.
Same behavior - banshee will move to a new track, play a fraction of a
second, then stop. Play/pause button is ineffectual. Grabbing the time
slider and jiggling it starts playback.
Turning off gaples
Confirmed the above - Paul Worrall's version of kdeeject actually ejects
my ipod, directly from amarok. Nice one, dude!

Tested the above patch in an up-to-date (as of today) Hardy install. I
no longer get an error message when right-click-Safely-Removing, and the
device unmounts, but it does not eject. This is with an ipod. Also,
kdeeject does nothing from the command line or from amarok -
not even unmount the d
I can confirm this as well, for 2.6.17-10-generic. The various logs
requested above are attached.
amarok, kaffeine, et al freeze when playing, when sound is broken.
Also, running "acpi-utls stop/start" doesn't seem to do anything at all.
It requires a reboot to get sound working again.
