I also still have it in Xubuntu 14.04.5 LTS with nvidia-355 drivers. I
checked the sources of the current xorg-server package and the fix isn't
adopted in them. Perhaps we could push somehow for it?

Public bug reported:
Hi all,
I'm running Xubuntu 15.04.5 LTS and am experiencing frequent screen
freezes. It's already an older bug which other people seem to still
encounter (see #1220426). As it was correctly pointed out in comment
#171 (see https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/trusty/+source/xorg
Hey guys,
since no fix for trusty has been released, I've taken matters into my
own hands. My own repository includes the fixed discussed in comment
#251. You use it as follows:
# sudo add-apt-repository ppa:minium/xorg-server
# sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get upgrade
Cheers

Nope, when running on noveau the error does not occur. However, as I noted
before,
it appears to be some strange interaction between the touchpad and the nvidia
driver.
After deactivating the touchpad functionality (setting it on mouse mode), the
symptoms
disappear as well.

Don't ask me why, but it appears that my fix isn't working anymore?
It may be due to an upgrade to the 3.14.4 kernel mainline. My packages still
are:
light-locker-settings
1.2.1-0ubuntu2~trusty~ppa4
xfce4-power-manager
1.2
I confirm the fix in post #56 as well. Although the login mask does not
appear instantly, it does so in the correct fashion.

My bad on comment #44, it was a false-positive. Further analysis has
shown the following:
- Going into suspend mode via closed lid still produces a black screen after
login on the laptop monitor
- Going into suspend mode via closed lid does not produce a black screen after
login on an external m
Dear Mr. Penvaler,
the bug is, at least in my case, definitely a duplicate of:

After following a temporary fix given there the freezes have stopped
altogether.

Indeed, it renders the touchpad functionality useless. Is there at least a way
to disable the touchpad
(now in mouse mode) during typing?

Dear Thaddäus,
I can confirm that after going into suspend by closing the lid and logging back
into the session
the screen is recovered correctly.
Thank you for the fix!
