Sorry I cannot install the dev release nor can I test the latest
upstream kernel at the moment but since I opend the bug report I found a
better solution posted by someone else in a different bug report.

The script should use extra configuration files from /etc/usb_modeswitch.d but
it doesn't.
Attached is a patch to make this work.
I have tested this with a Huawei k4510 modem. Using this configuration in
/etc/usb_modesswitch.d/121d:145c
autogen.sh should do it but you'll probably have to install xutils-dev
before you run it.

I managed to make syndaemon work with it ( with any mouse actually ). It's not
a fix for the actual bug but it partially solves the problem with typing.
