I have the same problem on 9.10 after upgrade to 2.6.31-16 on amd64. I can't log out (Ctrl-Alt-Backspace doesn't work). The only thing I can do is to reboot after opening a new console (Ctrl-Alt-F1) and logging in as root. This happens after a certain duration. When the computer is idle for 1 hour
