I can confirm that bug on my system (currently Ubuntu 11.10). Has
already caused some annoyances in the past -> is already present for a
while, I think since Ubuntu 11.04 but I'm not sure about that
Steps to reproduce:
- Join an IRC chat (I haven't tried if only one is enough, if you can't

I'd also like to see a higher priority for this because it's pretty
annoying.
For example if you edit a new email in Thunderbird, then want to look
something up in Firefox to include it in that email and then switch back
to Thunderbird you're back in the main window instead of the edit window

I can confirm that it shows the behaviour described in the report in an
up-to-date version of Ubuntu but not on the version as distributed on
the live CD.
I tried to play around with downgrading packages an I could narrow it
down to the packages compiz, compiz-core, compiz-gnome and compiz-

While I can confirm Patrick's report I don't think the behaviour he
expects is desirable, as this would mean that only to switch between
applications you would have to do more than one click. Maybe we can come
up with a different idea to satisfy beginners and more sophisticated
users at the same ti
The OpenSSL license and the GPL are incompatible (because of the advertising

contains GPLed code, you have to GPL this software too. As the OpenSSL license
is incompatible we can't do this because we would not respect

Sorry, didn't try your workaround before.
I can confirm Sebastian's workaround for my system (R61 - chipset Intel

a delay between hitting the backlight control keys and the actual update
of the backlight brightness
I can confirm the xrandr solution described by temugen, but on my system
it doesn't survive a reboot (I'm back on 2.6.27-11)

I backed up the old signons3.txt and firefox created a new one. The
structure indeed seems to be the same but the encrypted values aren't

apparently has to be there as the new file has exactly the same. The

P.S.: Logging off and on again doesn't help either. I'm using the option
"When Firefox is started: restore windows and tabs from the last
