install. I'm issuing a new bug report only because this is with version
18.04.2 LTS. Previously submitted similar bug reports were with previous
versions of Ubuntu.

Yes, the laptop internal SDHC card reader appears to not work reliably.
I can read photos off of the card and seem to have no problems.
However, using dd I have problems. Today, I've tried to create a
raspberry pi wheezy SD card with dd on U12.04.2 with all the latest
patches as of today.

U12.04 introduced local dnsmasq in Network Manager. This is "ok" when
all networking is managed by Network Manager. As soon as I update my
network interfaces file, all hell breaks loose. Wifi configuration
applet sometimes appears, wlan0 seems completely unpredictable whether

Does anyone see this after a laptop comes back out of hibernation? On
W520 Thinkpad I only see this issue when I resume from suspend. Using
any of the USB ports on the laptop with a mouse attached. Eventually
run out of disk space because kern.log and syslog.log fill up the disk
within minutes.
Crashing has stopped in the latest 10.04 LTS distribution. I found
crashing could be avoided by using a USB hub between the headset &
laptop USB ports. As of today, the headset doesn't crash the laptop
when direclty plugged in.

In my experience with a T420 U12.04b2 the SDHC card appeared. However, had

I see this problem on a clean U11.10 64bit install on a Thinkpad T420
and disk is no where near full. (As an aside: I dont know if it is
related to numerous random lockups which sometimes appear on startup,

I believe I have exactly the same problem. I was wanting to upgrade and
fix some completely separate issues with 10.04 install, and found a
FRESH install of 10.10 or the latest patches as of today have this
problem. Mythtv reliably craps out exactly as described in crash posted
in this bug report
Now that Maverick got released and I've freed up some space, I should
get that going and do the "upstream test".
Hopefully I'll be able to report back shortly.

I haven't been using Suspend or Wake-on-LAN, and I am using a wired
connection.
Nevertheless, I found it helpful to remove Network Manager 8.0 and use WICD
instead.
I find it very frustrating bumping into such basic problems with new
releases (I'm thinking of various gnome-applet issues with Hard
Reason for the recompile was likely that while checking my refresh rate,
I also saved a new xorg.conf from the Nvidia utility. I was on the
other side of my KVM while it was digesting that so maybe I missed
something. It all seems to be OK now.

Using Network Manager or WICD - even with Wake-on-LAN disabled - wired NIC is
not powered off after shutdown request - unlike in Ubuntu 8.04 (and even
Windows Vista).
Workaround is to "sudo ifconfig eth[n] down" prior to "sudo shutdown -h now".
On
he real "affect" of the problem is at the
switch.
- I uninstalled Network Manager but I get exactly get the same problem
using WICD.
With this information now, would you suggest reopening the bug report or
reassigning it elsewhere? I can easily recreate the problem if more

Couldn't successfully uninstall via synaptic the first time, took
several attempts.
Non-OSE version also craps out:

I found the 1Gb RAM is full of errors and ordering new memory module and
likely corrsponds to these random style of errors (and others such as
firefox just dying randomly and unable to reinstall ubuntu).
