I can confirm that. System is very unstable with unity (bug occurs in
10-15 minutes after launching unity ), less unstable without compiz
(using metacity it manifest itself "just" few times a day). Currently I
am using Xmonad, and the system is relavivelly stable (this error occurs
once in a weak).
I have the same issues, It happens when I tried a new kernel in release
candidate : linux-headers-2.6.39-020639rc5 to try to fix a bug with my wifi.
Now I have no bookmarks at all in any menu or bar
It's impossible to add a new one too.

Today I updated (to kernel 2.6.38-7.39), the problem still remains. But
I have interesting observation. The freeze always (as I remember) occurs
while I was using Google Chrome. After switching to firefox (after
update), Unity seems stable (so far, nothing crashed).

After update the problem remains (now I am using kernel 2.6.38-7.38).
Unity last for minute or two after login, then it freezes. I logged in
to the console, tried to run metacity --replace, or compiz --replace,
but nothing helps. Restart of gdm "worked", X was restarted, but screen

normaly a desktop with kernel 2.6.35-25 and 2.6.35-24 lets appear randomly
crashes.

this week i took a few updates including flac, libflac7 and xmms-flac
Today wanted to play some flac-files via xmms.
Rightclick in konqueror onto the flac-directory -> selecting "open with

Running the install routine of the Ubuntu 7.10 on PS3 the installation
fails at 82% with error message that the mirror server "releases" could
not be reached / connected.
My first intention was that the Network was no up. This was true, I
upped it manually and entered an IP-a
I've seen the same issue on my PS3. Installation of the Desktop variant
of Ubuntu 7.10 fails too but with another error. I'll open a case.

At present gutsy’s libflac8 and feisty’s libflac7 are installed in my
gutsy-setup.
libflac8 was probably installed experimentalising mit xmms2-plugin-flac, but
this plugin do not seem to be compatible mit xmms.
The dependecies of feisty’s xmms-flac explicitly need libflac7 which is
not include
As a workaround I took libflac7 and xmms-flac both from feisty's repository and
installed them in gutsy.
This works for me, but this is not very user-friendly, notably to users new to
linux.

symtoms are similar and removing vga-bootoption brings tty back...
I am short off time to read and translate/understand all coments and try the
workarounds, but okay, it seems to be duplicate.

Hello,
after updating Gutsy to kernel 2.6.22-13 (Version: 2.6.22-13.40) the
booting TTY is black - no standby, green led is on.
Grub loads kernels with:
$ cat /proc/cmdline
root=UUID=7f6312dc-88b2-4870-a1c9-1a40bca3ba20 ro vga=795
dmesg has no extraordinary messages.

After some research I have found a new Linux driver for the ATI Radeon card and
I have installed it. There should be a pointer to the video drivers in the
releases.

I got a similar "problem": thirty space characters between the sata-
disk's name and the colon before the temperature:
$ hddtemp /dev/hda /dev/sda
/dev/hda: ST380011A: 27°C
/dev/sda: ST3250820AS : 27°C
I supposed a faulty entry in my /etc/hddtemp.db, but everything is
hddtemp doesn't work here ("S.M.A.R.T. not available") with my sata-
disk, too.
# hddtemp /dev/hda /dev/sda
/dev/hda: ST380011A: 29°C
/dev/sda: ATA ST3250820AS: S.M.A.R.T. not available
But S.M.A.R.T actually is available, "sudo smartctl -a -d ata /dev/sda"
gives me the full output including temp
