Sorry guys, I had some more time to try the new driver, and I found that
it is fixed on my Koolu too, only I had specified the FBSize options
with 64MBs (which is what I had set in the BIOS), but the BIOS for some
strange reasons keeps losing that setting.
So let's call it fixed on my part.

With latest hardy upgrades, (xorg 1:7.3+10ubuntu7, kernel 2.6.24.15.17 ), the
geode lx (koolu) will work with xorg only with fb driver.
With the amd driver it will freeze with the X cursor on a black background, and
the Xorg log
Yes the cursor is still laggy, I'm currently using the git latest
version.
Enabling XGL and Composite is not an issue anymore, but desktop effects
are not starting.

I understand, but it's funny since the old version of the driver (marked
unstable on dev.laptop.org) did go to 1680x1050, even if with some
artifacts due to some bugs...

Now it's working, it's just not going 1680x1050 and it says for unknown
reason in the logs.
If I set the FBSize to the right value (64M on my machine), it stops
like above

My geode lx has xorg not completing initialization while loading RAMDAC.
It was perfectly working up to 2 weeks ago.
It stops saying:

my Geode LX800. However:

I'm using contrast font rendering, since on geode subpixel hinting is
too demanding on the CPU. Sometimes some characters are grey or even
blank. This happens for instance on Thunderbird or on menus.
