xhost +SI:localuser:root
sudo synaptic
after use close with:
xhost -SI:localuser:root

Synaptic doesn't open with administrati

While update-manager (on ubuntu 16.10) is running..
Opening the details window should give me a list of updating files.
However the containing window is improperly sized. I can barely see one line of
the list.
