quickly after system startup. If I wait at least ~15 seconds, or quit &
restart the app, they display with normal correct system pointer/cursor.

There are posts all over the net from linux users with RTL8111/8168B
experiencing poor network performance (usually lots of dropped packets).
The best solution seems to be to blacklist the r8169 driver and use the
r8168 driver instead.

The multihead-mode "focus-follow" fix mentioned earlier DOES work for
me, but in Ubuntu11.10 I have to use dconf-editor, not gconf-editor
(which is obsolete now, right?).

I encountered this problem and figured out that it's a misleading UI.
After entering IPs for Address, Netmask, and Gateway, I clicked the
"Add" button, thinking this would store it. I then went on to fill out
"DNS servers" etc. I then encountered the grayed-out "Save" button, with

1. The other bug reports a slow memory leak, around 4MB per hour.
Reporters here experience very rapid RAM consumption. For me,
NetworkManager consumes all 2GB of RAM within minutes.
