I'm confirming this bug: I upgraded my XPS 13 9333 from 14.04 to 16.04 last
week.
I had to go back to 14.04 by restoring the hard drive image because I was not
able to have the touchpad working. I also tested the generic kernel without
more success.

For me, there was no problem with 13.10.
After the upgrade to 14.04 (ubuntu-gnome ):
- special keys have no effect (sound volume up/down, brightness etc.)
- custom shortcuts (home key to fire internet navigator, by instance) are no
more working
