I have bought a usb sound card as a work around. This will woek, but
still I would prefer to use the build in soundcard. It has been several
weeks now

I will roll back to older lts 22.04 as cannot use in current state.
The sound works in 22.04.
I have searched forum but am unable to find anything similar.
it only loads the HDMI and not the intel HDA, seems that some of the same
kernel modules are used and hence cannot blacklist.

Boot the system with the following changes:
Blacklisted snd_hda_codec_hdmi in /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf.
Set GRUB parameters to disable HDMI (snd_hda_codec_hdmi.enable=0).
Disabled ALSA power-saving features.

Have mdadm for my root partition as well as others so cannot use
workaround displayed above.
