I'm seeing this issue too, in firefox (I don't use thunderbird). If you
resize the text (CTRL+ / CTRL-) which characters are affected change.
In the attached example (3 screen shots cropped/spliced), original text
size the "u" characters are the problem. One size up, it's n and i
characters (altho

I believe I'm seeing this same bug. Mirrored both screens show the full
visable area. Non-mirrored, 1 or both screens show only part of the area
that should be visible. A work-around (although very much not ideal) for
me seems to be to position the laptop screen below the external screen
in the lay

I don't think this is actually a missing feature, just a case of UI
change and poor documentation. To put a panel on the second monitor, add
it to the primary monitor, then hold + click + drag to move it to
the second monitor. This is described in the help, but is far from
intuitive.

To trigger the dialogue, I compose a new message in thunderbird, and
press send. At this point Enigmail / OpenPGP attempts to sign the
message, for which it needs to pull my pgp passphrase from the keyring,
and so the "Allow access" dialogue appears as shown in the screenshot
above.

Nope, I spoke too soon. For some reason X has a resolution 2px wider
than my laptop's primary display (1368*768), even though the only
resolution listed in xorg.conf is the correct 1366*768. If I change this
in System -> Preferences -> Screen Resolution to 1366*768, the
resolutions of both screens
I just did a fresh install of Feisty 20070415 (current RC candidate) -
the Xinerama bug is fixed so I was able to test this behaviour again.
The bug remains, exactly as described in the original report, therefore
I am reopening.

I'm seeing similar behaviour, possibly related to the same bug. When nm-
applet starts it prompts for keyring access twice, at the same time (two
separate identical dialogues.) Once I enter my password into both, it
connects. This happens every time I boot up.

I was using Dapper when I reported the bug, now Edgy. I haven't had
cause to use xinerama with one screen above the other for a while, so I
forgot about this until now.
Unfortunately I cannot test whether the bug is still occurring in Edgy,
since another bug in xinerama is preventing wi

These laptops are quite popular (sony vaio vgn-tx series), and I don't

I think I managed to successfully backtrace X via ssh from another
machine. The wiki doesn't explain how to attach Valgrind to an already
running process though, so you'll have to talk me through that if you
need Valgrind for X.

oops... can you tell I'm using a different keyboard to normal ;-)
How do I go about getting a backtrace when the bug crashes X? I can't
run 'gdb openoffice' from a virtual terminal since it's a graphical
application, and if I run it from a terminal window within X it dies
with my X session.
