I have just tested Ubuntu version 16.04 LTS xenial.
glxgears now gives a different error message, but somewhat similar.
We are still failing to load the swrast driver. Here is the output:
glxgears

Trusty instance on OpenStack. Here is what happens if I run glxgears:

It is reproducible in the following senses:
1. Each time I run the program it is the same.
2. I tried reinstalling, still the same. Specifically:
sudo apt-get install --reinstall seahorse
sudo apt-get install --reinstall gnome-keyring
