Sorry for the long delay. I now think that this bug was not fixed in
any of these mainline kernels, but that, instead, it generally takes
several suspend cycles for it to show up. Since I have been rebooting
frequently into different kernels to test this and other bugs, I wasn't
seeing the bug!

central both verticlaly and horizontel. two-finger mouse scrolling also
fials to work, indictaing that there's some general mouse bu
powertop 1.97 reporting 4.17 watts and 100% usage on codec hwc0d0, on a
thinkpad t410, running ubuntu oneiric. Powertop 1.13 doesn't seem to
see it (though there's a large category for 'rescheduling wakeups', not
sure if htat's related)

Just echoing Johns (comment 315) here. There's a very reliable tuxonice ppa
currently tracking maverick; I use it on all my machines and none of them
currently has hibernation problems. The old argument against tuxoice was that
the diff against the upstream kernel was too onerous to maintain.
my problems seem to have been solved but even so I would recommend to
ubuntu users that they replace any realtek wifi cards rather than deal
with this -- on many laptops this is not as hard as it sounds. It would

Thanks Jeremy. I tested against both linux-
image-2.6.35-999-generic_2.6.35-999.20100653_amd64 and linux-
image-2.6.32-02063209-generic_2.6.32-02063209_amd64. The bug is gone on
both!!
Now I have a couple of questions:
- will the 2.6.32 mainline kernel eventually make it into lucid-proposed?

powertop touches USB, acpi, and a bunch of other systems; maybe it
would be good to involve some of the packagers to see whether they can
predict what's likely to cause this problem; but I don't see how to
