manager (you can search for things like compiz or metacity, they are

Are you able to connect to some hosts and not others? Can you connect to
this host from another workstation on the same network? Can you connect
over telnet from any other program?
My thought is that this could be a problem with the connection between
the two computers, or possibly a firewall issu
