Well I understand that this doesn't really bother you at all but it
bothers me so... I found out a few more details, hope they'll help.
I opened the hardware manager in Ubuntu (7.10, Gnome) and found out that
the phone is recognized as a mass storage device, but it is not mounted

When I set my Motorola RAZR2 V8 to "memory device mode" (actually it
should behave as a mass storage device), nothing happens. Probably some
little tiny kind of connection is made because the phone gets charging
and it shows a message saying "The USB connection was made. Don't
