I've the same problem.
I've solved it (gaim now work) deconfiguring the eth interface, in fact
networkmanager manage my wired connection. The problem is that doing this way i
cannot assign a static ip to my machine

i made an inaccurate description of the bug.
the real problem were that when you click in a cell and push the backspace key
the shortcut are set to "backspace".
But now it work properly.
