Package avahi-daemon is installed,
I get occasional soft crashes running 3.3.6 and Intel HD 4000. Switching
TTY and restarting lightdm is possible when this happens.

I'm using the i7-3770K too, and that fix did not work for me either.
Kernel 3.3.6 has been stable for me though, with a current uptime of 12
days.

Strange that it's still unassigned seeing as this most likely affects
all new Ivy Bridge-based laptops using integrated graphics. Certainly an

I'm experiencing the same issue on Ubuntu 12.04 LTS, running Unity 3D and the
onboard Ivy Bridge GPU (Intel HD 4000).
Symptoms: Desktop freezes, no response from mouse or keyboard, can't change
TTY, Magic SysRq not working. Complete freeze.
Affected system:
Intel Core i7 3770K 3.5 GHz
Asus P8Z77
Looks like this bug is still present in Maverick. Hibernate and suspend
commands do not work through gnome-do.

I had an invalid UUID in /etc/initramfs-tools/conf.d/resume too.
Changing it to the correct one fixed it on Ubuntu 8.04 (including all

I'm experiencing the same thing. Usplash disappears right before 'Reading files
needed to boot' and I get text output instead.
Running Ubuntu 8.04 beta 32bit with the latest updates as of 06.04.2008. Also

I tried testing it with the LiveCD, but it's not possible because the
video card (nVidia 8400M GS) on M1330 requires a restricted driver for
HDMI to work, which can't be installed unless Ubuntu is installed on the
hard drive.

Editing hdparm.conf alone is not enough and as I wrote in my previous
comment, you have to run 'sudo update-rc.d hdparm defaults' too so that
the hdparm init script is added to the approperiate runlevels (2, 3, 4
and 5). Runlevel 2 is the last runlevel and scripts in this runlevel are
