Just FYI there is now a new solution, no need for HPLIP nor proprietary
drivers with other manufacturers.
Most Multi-function scanners and now some stand alone scanners are
Airscan/eSCL compatible, which includes most HP multifunctions. Also
Kyocera, Cannon, Epson and more support eSCL/Airprint.

Trent, Thanks that does work. Now on to seeing how to addd the txt
attributes for scanner features and such, hopefully this too is
attainable.

We all know there are workarounds for this and what surprises me more s
that after 8 months NO FIX! I just took my install of ubuntu 12.04 to
the latest samba packages from Raring and the problem is still there . I
was already running CUPS 1.61. What I did notice is something I did not

About previous comment, forget the USB memory use proxy in firefox to
download! Once you install the deb and set the proxy you should be good
to go system wide.

I encountered aother intresting networking problem that may be possibly
related ad thought it worth mentioning
I am on a network with 2 gateways . by default the IP ending in .1 is
issued by DHCP , however with a manual conbfiguratiopn we can switch to
the .2 gateway.

I ran into a similar issue in Maverick 10.10 . I copied an Apple TV
partition to a larger drive and wanted to expand the partition to fill
the larger drive.
I booted to linux on USB stick then ran gparted , and after scannking
drives, it quits.
I then ran from terminal
~ $ sudo gparted
