not work for me using the lastest kernel. The problem is the same: a
wireless device is created, but it does not work (no networks are
scanned).

My Smargo Smartreader plus still does not work using kernel 2.6.31-17.54
and also not with the patch from #8. The problem seems to be related to
resetting. Maybe kernel 2.6.31-18 solves this problem (see comment #35),
but I haven't tried that yet.
