Same here, don't know if this the problem, but the laptop doesn't get to

For some reason, this seems to be related to awesomewm because loging
out and trying firefox out in gnome doesn't seem to freeze the same way.
At some point I got an error message saying "Firefox is not responding

I still have a huge load time on thun

This is probably a gtk bug but I don't know on whih package I should put

Am getting something similar to this but don't known where to start
debugging it. Removing libcanberra-gtk-module doesn't fix the problem.
Doing a

gets me a bunche of matches on files from libcanberra0. Trying to remove

there are other workarounds than an session logout. I fixed this by
adding an xrandr call in acpi/lid.sh to force the screen to come on.

It's kinda sad that it is June 2014 and this still doesn't work (14.04 LTS):
"Generate package download script" creates a shell script with just
"#!/bin/sh"
in it. If a user is supposed to select or mark anything, at least this
menu item should prompt the user to do so.

I'm not sure, if it is correct to post here, but I had a similar problems since
I updated to ubuntu 14.04 LTS (x86_64k). Sometimes I had more than 500MB for
each compiz and xorg, which once summed up in 1,2 GB. The system was very slow,
then I even thought it had been freezed (but it wasn't), ev
Actually, I have an additional problem: if the resources are remote, I
cannot find a way to accept this remote site as trusted and the warning
is most annoying

IMHO the flickering is caused by using 2 graphic cards for the unity
desktop and not by connecting a 3rd Monitor. (seems to be consistant
with previous posts )
I'm able to turn the flickering on / off by enabling / disabling my
4th monitor which is connected to my second "Radeon HD 6450"

Should update this:
I had to install xubuntu with the nomodeset switch to boot from the DVD and
didn't realize this option was installed in my /det/default/grub.
After install I removed the nomodeset and now the laptop boots fine and
the blank screen at logout is gone

using nomodeset during the initial install fixed the issue. After
xubuntu is installed and all drivers are updated (using nvidia 331.67
for the GeForce and the regular X driver from xorg edgers for the Intel)
I can remove the nomodeset and everything works fine

After upgrading LTS from 12.04 to 14.04 I have the same issue.
I have a 4 monitor setup with 2 graphic cards. I tried a lot of
configruations / drivers, but the only thing that "worked" was
completly uninstalling fglrx and connecting 3 monitors to 1 graphic
card.
