Is it possible to rewrite one line in the init.d sktipt?

There is variable N2N_DAEMON_OPTS in /etc/default/n2n config file. I
use this variable for netmask or for settings MTU.
This variable for settings netmask may be like:
N2N_DAEMON_OPTS="-s 255.255.0.0"
but, in init scripts this variable is not used (in /etc/init.d/n2n)

I have the same problem in Linux Mint 16 with KDE. It's clean
installation on computer, childsplay was installed from synaptic.
